‘Working together for a cooperative future’: a new video that gives the floor to young cooperators
Why and first and foremost for what reasons do youths cooperate? CICOPA, and its regional organizations in Europe and Mercosur: CECOP-CICOPA Europe and CICOPA Mercosur, have produced, with the support of Cooperar, the Cooperative Confederation of the Republic of Argentina, a video that gives the floor to young cooperators in 9 countries around the world.
29 October 2015
“Working together for a cooperative future” was created in a collaborative manner, and shares the experiences, challenges and motivations of young cooperators in 9 different countries across the globe. The video will be launched on November 11 during the conference of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) held in Antalya (Turkey).
An inspiring and refreshing video that showcases the diversity present in worker cooperatives and social cooperatives. Young cooperators tell their stories from Japan, Argentina, Italy, Spain, France, United States, Brazil, Poland, and South Africa. Among these, we meet : Bases cooperative (Argentina), located in the city of Río Cuarto, that edits ‘El Megáfono’, a weekly newspaper; AGURIĪN (Japan) a social cooperative that produces renewable energy from used cooking oil, and that integrates young people with psychological problems; Atelier Reeb (France) that was transferred to its young workers by its former owner and specializes in water purification; and Ugu Coop Produce (South Africa), a cooperative that works in the agricultural sector, in the Natal region, and produces organic vegetables.
The video was, from the beginning, created collaboratively by organizations that represent worker cooperatives and the cooperatives that got involved in this project, from the filming to the editing process. The film lasts 14 minutes and is subtitled in English; it will be available online from November 11th.
